Shah Rukh Khan (created Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film actors on earth.

Khan started out his job with appearances in a number of tv set series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his job, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous assignments in the films Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He acquired critical acclaim for his portrayal associated with an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger symptoms in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Season (2014). Many of his films screen themes or templates of Indian countrywide cable connections and individuality with diaspora neighborhoods, or gender, racial, social and religious distinctions and grievances. For his contributions to film, the federal government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.

Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's University in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in stage plays and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in a lot of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (Label), where he analyzed acting under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started out learning for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to follow his acting job. He also went to the National School of Theatre in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His father died of cancers in 1981, and his mom died in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death with their parents, his old sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, given birth to in 1960, dropped into a depressed condition and Khan needed on the duty of caring for her.
