Shah Rukh Khan (delivered Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film professional, producer and tv set personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. Khan started out his career with appearances in a number of tv series in the past due 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. A lot of his movies screen themes of Indian national personality and relationships with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, and is the co-owner of the Indian Premier Little league cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster pain relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek named him one with their fifty most powerful people in the world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Relating to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko dialect at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He moved to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the child of a senior government engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan explained himself on Twitter as "1 / 2 Hyderabadi (mother), fifty percent Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the declare that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented flats. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in stage takes on and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he researched acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began studying for a master's degree in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to follow his acting profession. He also attended the National College of Dilemma in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His dad died of tumors in 1981, and his mother perished in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death with their parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, born in 1960, fell into a stressed out Khan and status needed on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and it is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a child Suhana (born 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child named AbRam, who was simply born via a surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he strongly feels in Islam, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
