Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, can be an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan started out his job with appearances in several television set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his profession, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous assignments in the films Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in a series of romantic motion pictures, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey trainer in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger symptoms in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures include the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Season (2014). Many of his films screen designs of Indian nationwide identity and associations with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious variations and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film production company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Top Group cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent tv set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided healthcare and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the very most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek named him one of these fifty most powerful people in the global world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko words at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, English India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a mature government engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan described himself on Twitter as "fifty percent Hyderabadi (mom), one half Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origin from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented apartments rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youth, he acted in level has and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in a lot of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he researched performing under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but kept to go after his acting career. He also went to the National College of Crisis in Delhi during his early job in Bollywood. His dad died of malignancy in 1981, and his mother passed away in 1991 from complications of diabetes. After the death of their parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, given birth to in 1960, fell into a stressed out express and Khan needed on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often described by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (delivered 1997) and a child Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of your third child called AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he believes in Islam highly, he also prices his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
