Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, can be an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film superstars on the globe.

Khan started his profession with appearances in several television set series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his career, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous tasks in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in a series of romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Time (2014). Many of his motion pictures display styles of Indian national personal information and relationships with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious dissimilarities and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, and is also the co-owner of the Indian Leading Category cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek named him one of the fifty most powerful people on the planet.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Regarding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the daughter of a senior administration engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan referred to himself on Twitter as "50 percent Hyderabadi (mother), half Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in stage plays and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in a lot of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he analyzed behaving under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's level in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to go after his acting profession. He also went to the National School of Episode in Delhi during his early on profession in Bollywood. His dad died of malignancy in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from issues of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his old sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and express had taken on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (born 1997) and a girl Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of an third child called AbRam, who was born by using a surrogate mother. Relating to Khan, while he firmly thinks in Islam, he also prices his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
