Shah Rukh Khan (created Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film actor, television and producer personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film actors on the globe.

Khan commenced his profession with appearances in several tv series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his job, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous roles in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing movies include the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Calendar year (2014). Many of his movies screen styles of Indian national identification and relationships with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Leading Group cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one of the fifty most effective people in the global world.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Regarding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He relocated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the girl of a senior federal engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan explained himself on Twitter as "1 / 2 Hyderabadi (mom), 1 / 2 Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origin from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports activities such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in level plays and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he analyzed acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he commenced learning for a master's level in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to follow his acting career. He also went to the National School of Theatre in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His father died of tumors in 1981, and his mother passed away in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, created in 1960, dropped into a despondent talk about and Khan had taken on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (born 1997) and a child Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of a third child called AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he highly is convinced in Islam, he also values his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
