Shah Rukh Khan (blessed Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience size and income, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film celebrities in the global world.

Khan started out his profession with appearances in several television set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his job, Khan was accepted for portraying villainous functions in the videos Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He acquired critical acclaim for his portrayal associated with an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New 12 months (2014). Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in female family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Corresponding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko language at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, English India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian National Congress. He transferred to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the daughter of a older administration engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), half Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's College in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in stage works and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj University (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he studied acting under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to go after his acting profession. He also attended the National Institution of Episode in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His father died of cancer in 1981, and his mother passed away in 1991 from complications of diabetes. Following the death of their parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, created in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and status needed on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is also described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, after having a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (delivered 1997) and a princess Suhana (blessed 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of the third child known as AbRam, who was born by having a surrogate mother. Regarding to Khan, while he strongly is convinced in Islam, he also prices his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
