Shah Rukh Khan (created Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film actor, producer and tv personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film celebrities in the world.

Khan started out his career with appearances in several tv set series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his job, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous jobs in the videos Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of your alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing movies are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided healthcare and disaster relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one with their fifty most powerful people on the globe.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Corresponding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his complete family used to speak Hindko terms at home. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the little girl of a mature government engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), one half Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented apartments rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's University in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports activities such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in stage plays and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he analyzed acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he commenced studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to go after his acting profession. He also went to the National Institution of Play in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His dad died of cancers in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from issues of diabetes. After the death of the parents, his old sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and point out got on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, following a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (created 1997) and a little girl Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child known as AbRam, who was born through a surrogate mother. Corresponding to Khan, while he highly thinks in Islam, he also prices his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
