Shah Rukh Khan (blessed Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film stars in the world.

Khan started his profession with appearances in a number of television series in the past due 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his job, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous jobs in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger symptoms in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films are the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Time (2014). A lot of his movies screen topics of Indian national contacts and identification with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film development company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Top Group cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent tv presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek named him one of the fifty most powerful people on the globe.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Regarding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal portion of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian National Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the girl of a mature federal government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan described himself on Twitter as "1 / 2 Hyderabadi (mother), 50 % Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's College in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and football, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youth, he acted in level has and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he examined performing under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to follow his acting profession. He also attended the National College of Play in Delhi during his early career in Bollywood. His daddy died of tumors in 1981, and his mom died in 1991 from difficulties of diabetes. Following the death of their parents, his elderly sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, given birth to in 1960, fell into a depressed Khan and status got on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the labor and birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, which is referred to by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, following a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (blessed 1997) and a daughter Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of any third child named AbRam, who was born by using a surrogate mother. Regarding to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam highly, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
