Shah Rukh Khan (delivered Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film acting professional, producer and television personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the very most successful film personalities in the global world.

Khan started his job with appearances in a number of tv series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his job, Khan was accepted for portraying villainous tasks in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Season (2014). Many of his videos screen designs of Indian national personality and contacts with diaspora neighborhoods, or gender, racial, social and religious distinctions and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, and it is the co-owner of the Indian Top Little league cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided healthcare and disaster pain relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the very most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one of their fifty most effective people in the global world.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal area of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the little girl of a mature government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan identified himself on Twitter as "1 / 2 Hyderabadi (mom), 50 % Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the declare that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's University in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and football, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in level plays and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj School (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he researched performing under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began learning for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but kept to pursue his acting career. He also attended the National College of Theatre in Delhi during his early job in Bollywood. His father died of tumor in 1981, and his mom passed on in 1991 from complications of diabetes. After the death with their parents, his elderly sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, fell into a frustrated status and Khan needed on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is referred to by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after having a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a princess Suhana (born 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child known as AbRam, who was born by using a surrogate mother. Regarding to Khan, while he feels in Islam firmly, he also values his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
