Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film acting professional, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film superstars on earth.

Khan began his career with appearances in a number of television set series in the past due 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his profession, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous assignments in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic motion pictures, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing movies include the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Calendar year (2014). Many of his videos screen styles of Indian national identity and cable connections with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Leading Group cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster pain relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one of the fifty most effective people on earth.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko terms at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He shifted to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a older authorities engineer. His parents were married in 1959. Khan referred to himself on Twitter as "50 % Hyderabadi (mother), one half Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's University in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in stage takes on and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent a lot of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (Label), where he researched operating under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he commenced studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to go after his acting profession. He also went to the National School of Drama in Delhi during his early job in Bollywood. His father died of tumor in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from issues of diabetes. After the death of the parents, his more aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, born in 1960, fell into a stressed out Khan and state took on the duty of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and it is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after having a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a little girl Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of an third child known as AbRam, who was born through a surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he feels in Islam strongly, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
