Khan started his career with appearances in a number of tv set series in the overdue 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Regarding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko terms at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He moved to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the child of a senior administration engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan identified himself on Twitter as "half Hyderabadi (mother), 50 % Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the declare that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented flats.
