Shah Rukh Khan (delivered Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film actor, producer and tv set personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience size and income, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film celebrities in the global world.

Khan started his profession with appearances in several tv set series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his job, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous roles in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then rose to prominence after starring in some romantic videos, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of any alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger symptoms in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New 12 months (2014). A lot of his videos screen themes of Indian countrywide connections and identity with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious dissimilarities and grievances. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster alleviation, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the very most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek named him one with their fifty most effective people in the global world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his complete family used to speak Hindko dialect at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He moved to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the daughter of a senior government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan identified himself on Twitter as "half Hyderabadi (mom), 1 / 2 Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family lived a middle-class life in rented rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's Institution in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youngsters, he acted in level plays and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he studied behaving under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to pursue his acting career. He also went to the National School of Episode in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His father died of tumors in 1981, and his mom passed on in 1991 from issues of diabetes. After the death of these parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a stressed out status and Khan needed on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the labor and birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a child Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child named AbRam, who was simply born by way of a surrogate mother. Relating to Khan, while he firmly feels in Islam, he also values his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
