Khan started out his job with appearances in several television series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his career, Khan was accepted for portraying villainous tasks in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in some romantic videos, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He attained critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger symptoms in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing videos are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Time (2014). Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the girl of a senior government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan explained himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), 50 percent Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the declare that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.

He also went to the National College of Drama in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His father died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mom passed away in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his old sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a frustrated status and Khan required on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often described by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a little girl Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child called AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. According to Khan, while he strongly believes in Islam, he also values his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
