Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film acting professional, producer and tv set personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the very most successful film actors in the global world.

Khan began his career with appearances in several tv series in the past due 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his career, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous roles in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic motion pictures, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger symptoms in my own Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing movies are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Time (2014). Many of his films screen themes of Indian national individuality and associations with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious distinctions and grievances. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film development company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, and is also the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent tv set presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek known as him one of the fifty most powerful people in the global world.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Relating to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko language at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still living in Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian National Congress. He relocated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a senior federal government engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan defined himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mother), fifty percent Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origin from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's Institution in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his children, he acted in level has and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. After Hansraj, he commenced studying for a master's degree in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to follow his acting profession. He also went to the National University of Theatre in Delhi during his early on profession in Bollywood. His daddy died of tumor in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from difficulties of diabetes. After the death with their parents, his aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, fell into a stressed out Khan and express had taken on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the labor and birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often described by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (created 1997) and a little girl Suhana (given birth to 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of the third child named AbRam, who was born by having a surrogate mother. Regarding to Khan, while he thinks in Islam strongly, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
