Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film acting professional, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan started out his job with appearances in a number of television series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his career, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous functions in the films Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). For his contributions to film, the federal government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film production company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, and it is the co-owner of the Indian Premier Category cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one with their fifty most effective people on earth.

He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his complete family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal area of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He changed to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the little girl of a senior administration engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan defined himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), fifty percent Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and football, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his children, he acted in level plays and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent a lot of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he studied acting under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's degree in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to follow his acting job. He also went to the National Institution of Play in Delhi during his early job in Bollywood. His dad died of malignancy in 1981, and his mother passed away in 1991 from complications of diabetes. Following the death of their parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, dropped into a depressed condition and Khan had taken on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, which is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25, after a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (born 1997) and a little princess Suhana (created 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child named AbRam, who was born through the surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he strongly feels in Islam, he also values his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
