Khan commenced his profession with appearances in several tv set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his profession, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous assignments in the videos Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in female family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his complete family used to speak Hindko terminology at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still living in Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian National Congress. He moved to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the little girl of a mature administration engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan defined himself on Twitter as "50 percent Hyderabadi (mother), 1 / 2 Pathan (dad), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in stage takes on and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he studied performing under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but kept to go after his acting career. He also went to the National University of Drama in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His father died of tumor in 1981, and his mom perished in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death with their parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, given birth to in 1960, fell into a depressed Khan and point out needed on the responsibility of looking after her.
