Shah Rukh Khan (blessed Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, can be an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the very most successful film superstars in the global world.

Khan commenced his job with appearances in several television series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his career, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous assignments in the videos Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in some romantic motion pictures, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He acquired critical acclaim for his portrayal associated with an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey trainer in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing movies include the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Season (2014). A lot of his movies display topics of Indian national identification and contacts with diaspora neighborhoods, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, and is the co-owner of the Indian Top Little league cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent tv set stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the very most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one with their fifty most effective people on the globe.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko words at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still moving into Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He shifted to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the little girl of a senior administration engineer. His parents were married in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "half Hyderabadi (mother), half Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in stage has and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood stars, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj School (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (TAG), where he analyzed operating under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he commenced studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to pursue his acting job. He also attended the National College of Drama in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His father died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from difficulties of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his elderly sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a frustrated state and Khan got on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after having a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a princess Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child called AbRam, who was simply born through the surrogate mother. Relating to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam highly, he also prices his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
