Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, can be an Indian film professional, producer and tv personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film superstars in the global world.

Khan started his job with appearances in a number of tv set series in the overdue 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his job, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous tasks in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). (2001). He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of any alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing videos are the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Yr (2014). Many of his films display themes of Indian national identification and connections with diaspora neighborhoods, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture development company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Leading Category cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent tv stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster alleviation, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one of these fifty most powerful people in the global world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in female family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Relating to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko vocabulary at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He shifted to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a senior government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "50 % Hyderabadi (mom), fifty percent Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's Institution in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in level takes on and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. He also attended the National School of Episode in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His father died of cancer in 1981, and his mom passed away in 1991 from issues of diabetes. After the death of these parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, born in 1960, fell into a depressed point out and Khan got on the duty of looking after her. Although Khan was given the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK.
