After Hansraj, he commenced studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to pursue his acting profession. He also went to the National University of Crisis in Delhi during his early career in Bollywood. His daddy died of cancer in 1981, and his mom died in 1991 from complications of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, created in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and status took on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship.
