Shah Rukh Khan (delivered Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, can be an Indian film professional, producer and tv personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film stars on the globe.

Khan began his job with appearances in a number of tv series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his career, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous tasks in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic motion pictures, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Calendar year (2014). Many of his motion pictures display styles of Indian national personal information and associations with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious differences and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the Government of France awarded him both Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, and is the co-owner of the Indian Leading League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in listings of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek called him one of these fifty most powerful people on the planet.


Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in female family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Matching to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko words at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, United kingdom India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the little princess of a mature federal government engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "fifty percent Hyderabadi (mom), 1 / 2 Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's College in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in stage plays and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent a lot of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (Label), where he examined performing under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to go after his acting profession. He also attended the National University of Episode in Delhi during his early job in Bollywood. His dad died of tumor in 1981, and his mother passed away in 1991 from difficulties of diabetes. After the death with their parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, born in 1960, fell into a stressed out Khan and state needed on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after having a six-year courtship. They have a kid Aryan (born 1997) and a girl Suhana (born 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child known as AbRam, who was born through a surrogate mother. Regarding to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam highly, he also values his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
