Shah Rukh Khan (created Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in female family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Relating to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his complete family used to speak Hindko vocabulary at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the child of a senior administration engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan defined himself on Twitter as "50 percent Hyderabadi (mom), 50 percent Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.
Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's Institution in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and football, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in level works and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. After the death of the parents, his aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, fell into a despondent Khan and state got on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.
Although Khan was given the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is also described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (delivered 1997) and a little girl Suhana (blessed 2000). In 2013, they became parents of an third child named AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. Corresponding to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam highly, he also values his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
