Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, can be an Indian film acting professional, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience income and size, he has been described as one of the most successful film stars in the world.

Khan started out his profession with appearances in a number of television set series in the later 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his profession, Khan was accepted for portraying villainous jobs in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Khan referred to himself on Twitter as "fifty percent Hyderabadi (mom), 1 / 2 Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented flats. Khan attended St. Columba's Institution in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in activities such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in stage takes on and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in a lot of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (Label), where he studied acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's degree in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to follow his acting job. He also went to the National College of Episode in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His father died of cancers in 1981, and his mother died in 1991 from issues of diabetes. Following the death of the parents, his more aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a stressed out status and Khan needed on the responsibility of looking after her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and it is described by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a girl Suhana (blessed 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child called AbRam, who was simply born by way of a surrogate mother. Matching to Khan, while he thinks in Islam highly, he also prices his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
