Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko dialect at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still living in Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He changed to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the daughter of a senior federal government engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan detailed himself on Twitter as "fifty percent Hyderabadi (mother), fifty percent Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the declare that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.

Relating to Khan, while he feels in Islam highly, he also values his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
