Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the most successful film celebrities on earth.

Khan started out his profession with appearances in a number of television set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his job, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous functions in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic videos, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures are the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Season (2014). A lot of his videos display themes or templates of Indian national personal information and associations with diaspora neighborhoods, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.

He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Corresponding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko vocabulary at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still surviving in Shah Wali Qataal portion of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He relocated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the little princess of a senior government engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan referred to himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), half Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's College in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest honor, the Sword of Honour. In his young ones, he acted in level takes on and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood actors, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj College or university (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in a lot of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he researched operating under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he commenced learning for a master's degree in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to follow his acting job. He also attended the National College of Crisis in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His dad died of tumors in 1981, and his mom passed on in 1991 from complications of diabetes. After the death with their parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, fell into a depressed express and Khan took on the duty of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the labor and birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (created 1997) and a little girl Suhana (born 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child called AbRam, who was born by using a surrogate mother. According to Khan, while he feels in Islam firmly, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
