Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film acting professional, producer and tv personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. Khan started his career with appearances in several television series in the overdue 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in lady family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko words at home. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still moving into Shah Wali Qataal part of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian National Congress. He shifted to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a mature administration engineer. His parents were committed in 1959. Khan referred to himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mother), 50 percent Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the family is of Hindkowan origins from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.
Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family lived a middle-class life in rented flats. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his children, he acted in stage takes on and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. Khan enrolled at Hansraj School (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (Label), where he analyzed performing under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started out studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to pursue his acting profession. He also attended the National University of Episode in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His father died of cancer in 1981, and his mother perished in 1991 from problems of diabetes. After the death with their parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a stressed out state and Khan had taken on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.
Although Khan was presented with the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, following a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (delivered 1997) and a little princess Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child known as AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. Relating to Khan, while he strongly believes in Islam, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
