Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film actor, producer and tv personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. Khan started out his job with appearances in several tv set series in the overdue 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Many of his motion pictures display themes of Indian national identity and contacts with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious differences and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture creation company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries, and is also the co-owner of the Indian Top Category cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television stage and presenter show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster alleviation, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Matching to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian National Congress. He changed to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a senior administration engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan described himself on Twitter as "half Hyderabadi (mother), one half Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan origin from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's University in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and sports, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youth, he acted in level plays and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj University (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theater Action Group (Label), where he researched performing under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started out learning for a master's level in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to go after his acting profession. He also went to the National University of Theatre in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His father died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mother died in 1991 from complications of diabetes. Following the death of the parents, his more aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, born in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and talk about required on the responsibility of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly described by the acronym SRK. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
