Shah Rukh Khan (blessed Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, can be an Indian film acting professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience income and size, he has been referred to as one of the very most successful film celebrities in the global world.

He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Corresponding to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he's a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko terms at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). As of 2010, Khan's paternal family was still moving into Shah Wali Qataal area of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He changed to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a senior authorities engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan identified himself on Twitter as "50 % Hyderabadi (mom), 50 percent Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan origin from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and also contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented apartments rentals. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports activities such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his children, he acted in stage works and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj University (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he analyzed acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started out studying for a master's level in Mass Marketing communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to follow his acting job. He also went to the National Institution of Drama in Delhi during his early profession in Bollywood. His dad died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mother passed on in 1991 from complications of diabetes. Following the death of their parents, his more aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, given birth to in 1960, dropped into a despondent state and Khan had taken on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and it is referred to by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony on 25 October 1991, after having a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (born 1997) and a princess Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they became parents of a third child known as AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother. Corresponding to Khan, while he firmly believes in Islam, he also values his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
