Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, can be an Indian film professional, producer and tv set personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan started his profession with appearances in a number of television set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his profession, Khan was recognized for portraying villainous tasks in the movies Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic videos, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of the alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey trainer in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures are the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Yr (2014). Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in woman family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. Relating to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an cultural Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko terms at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and associated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He shifted to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the girl of a older government engineer. His parents were married in 1959. Khan described himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mom), 1 / 2 Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the grouped family resided a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and basketball, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in level takes on and received compliment for his imitations of Bollywood stars, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj University (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's level in Economics, but put in much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he studied acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but kept to follow his acting profession. He also attended the National School of Dilemma in Delhi during his early on job in Bollywood. His dad died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mom passed on in 1991 from problems of diabetes. Following the death of these parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, created in 1960, fell into a stressed out Khan and state had taken on the duty of looking after her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was given the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a normal Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six-year courtship. They have a child Aryan (created 1997) and a daughter Suhana (created 2000). In 2013, they became parents of an third child called AbRam, who was born by way of a surrogate mother. Relating to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam strongly, he also prices his wife's religious beliefs. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
