Shah Rukh Khan (given birth to Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, can be an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience income and size, he has been described as one of the most successful film actors in the world.

Khan started out his career with appearances in a number of television set series in the late 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early on in his profession, Khan was accepted for portraying villainous roles in the films Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). He then increased to prominence after starring in some romantic movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He received critical acclaim for his portrayal associated with an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey instructor in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing films include the comedies Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New 12 months (2014). Many of his movies screen themes or templates of Indian nationwide associations and identity with diaspora communities, or gender, racial, social and religious distinctions and grievances. For his contributions to film, the national government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the film development company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, and is also the co-owner of the Indian Leading League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television set presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided health care and disaster relief, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the most influential people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek known as him one of their fifty most effective people in the global world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five many years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his entire family used to speak Hindko words at home. Khan's daddy, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian self-reliance activist in Peshawar, English India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still living in Shah Wali Qataal region of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He moved to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mom, Lateef Fatima, was the princess of a senior federal engineer. His parents were hitched in 1959. Khan defined himself on Twitter as "50 % Hyderabadi (mother), half Pathan (father), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar declare that the grouped family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan grew in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi up. His father had several businesses including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's College in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in athletics such as hockey and soccer, and received the school's highest award, the Sword of Honour. In his junior, he acted in level plays and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood celebrities, which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of is own childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj School (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent a lot of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he examined acting under the mentorship of theater director Barry John. After Hansraj, he started studying for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but remaining to follow his acting profession. He also attended the National University of Dilemma in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His dad died of cancers in 1981, and his mother died in 1991 from difficulties of diabetes. After the death of the parents, his more mature sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a stressed out state and Khan took on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is often referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a traditional Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after a six-year courtship. They have a son Aryan (blessed 1997) and a daughter Suhana (blessed 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of any third child known as AbRam, who was simply born by having a surrogate mother. According to Khan, while he feels in Islam highly, he also prices his wife's faith. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an is situated next to the Hindu deities.
