Shah Rukh Khan (delivered Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, is an Indian film actor, producer and television set personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In conditions of audience income and size, he has been described as one of the very most successful film stars in the global world.

Khan started out his profession with appearances in a number of television series in the overdue 1980s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his profession, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous jobs in the motion pictures Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994). Then rose to prominence after starring in a series of romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001). He acquired critical acclaim for his portrayal of alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey mentor in Chak De! India (2007) and a guy with Asperger symptoms in My Name Is Khan (2010). His highest-grossing motion pictures include the comedies Chennai Exhibit (2013) and Happy New Time (2014). A lot of his videos screen themes of Indian national identification and connections with diaspora areas, or gender, racial, social and religious grievances and differences. For his contributions to film, the federal government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, and the federal government of France awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the L?gion d'honneur.



By 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture production company Red Chillies Entertainment and its own subsidiaries, which is the co-owner of the Indian Leading Group cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He is a frequent television presenter and stage show performer. The media often label him as "Brand SRK" because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. Khan's philanthropic endeavours have provided healthcare and disaster comfort, and he was honoured with UNESCO's Pyramide con Marni award in 2011 for his support of children's education. He regularly features in entries of the very most important people in Indian culture, and in 2008, Newsweek known as him one of these fifty most powerful people in the global world.


Khan was created on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Shah Rukh Khan also said in his interviews that he is a Pathan from Peshawar and his whole family used to speak Hindko language at home. Khan's dad, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British isles India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still residing in Shah Wali Qataal portion of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Meer was a follower of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, and affiliated with the All Indian Country wide Congress. He migrated to New Delhi in 1948 partition of India. Khan's mother, Lateef Fatima, was the girl of a senior federal engineer. His parents were wedded in 1959. Khan identified himself on Twitter as "one half Hyderabadi (mother), fifty percent Pathan (daddy), [and] some Kashmiri (grandmother)". His paternal cousins in Peshawar claim that the family is of Hindkowan source from Kashmir, not Pashtun, and contradict the claim that his grandfather was from Afghanistan also.



Khan was raised in the Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the family lived a middle-class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St. Columba's School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and football, and received the school's highest prize, the Sword of Honour. In his youth, he acted in level works and received reward for his imitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favourites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Mumtaz and Bachchan. One of his childhood friends and acting partners was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj School (1985-88) to earn his bachelor's degree in Economics, but spent much of his time at Delhi's Theatre Action Group (TAG), where he researched performing under the mentorship of theatre director Barry John. After Hansraj, he began studying for a master's level in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to pursue his acting career. He also went to the National Institution of Crisis in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His dad died of cancers in 1981, and his mom passed away in 1991 from complications of diabetes. After the death of their parents, his more aged sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, delivered in 1960, fell into a despondent Khan and point out took on the duty of looking after her. Shahnaz is constantly on the live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.


Although Khan was presented with the beginning name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is commonly referred to by the acronym SRK. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (born 1997) and a daughter Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they truly became parents of a third child known as AbRam, who was simply born by having a surrogate mother. According to Khan, while he is convinced in Islam firmly, he also values his wife's religion. His children follow both religions; at home the Qur'an can be found next to the Hindu deities.
