Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan; 2 November 1965), known as SRK also, can be an Indian film professional, television and producer personality. Described in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Khan has a substantial following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, served as the principle engineer of the port in the 1960s. Khan's father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian freedom activist in Peshawar, British India (present-day Pakistan). By 2010, Khan's paternal family was still moving into Shah Wali Qataal section of Peshawar's Qissa Khawani Bazaar. After Hansraj, he started learning for a master's degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but still left to pursue his acting career. He also went to the National College of Dilemma in Delhi during his early on career in Bollywood. His dad died of cancer tumor in 1981, and his mom perished in 1991 from issues of diabetes. Following the death of their parents, his elderly sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, fell into a frustrated Khan and express got on the duty of looking after her. Although Khan was given the delivery name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is referred to by the acronym SRK commonly.
