After the death of their parents, his older sister, Shahnaz Lalarukh, blessed in 1960, dropped into a despondent condition and Khan had taken on the duty of caring for her. Shahnaz continues to live with her brother and his family in their Mumbai mansion.
Although Khan was presented with the birth name Shahrukh Khan, he prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is referred to by the acronym SRK commonly. He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, october 1991 in a normal Hindu marriage ceremony on 25, after a six-year courtship. They have a boy Aryan (given birth to 1997) and a girl Suhana (delivered 2000). In 2013, they became parents of the third child named AbRam, who was born via a surrogate mother.
